What do you see when you take a glance at a full moon?
I am always reminded that someone far away is looking at that same moon. It makes me feel small as a person, but simultaneously connected to humanity. It reminds me that we are just a small speck of stardust in our little corner of the universe. We have the special privilege to explore and experience it and each other. It is the vastness of the cosmos that makes us rare. To live in this age of health, technology and science is nothing more than exceptional. Of the billions of people who ever lived on earth, we are beyond lucky.
The thought that usually follows: what the fuck are we doing with it? Climate change is going rampant, we know exactly what is happening and we do close to nothing. Our attention span is constantly flushed through the toilet, as we are poked from every side, all the time. We cling to the status quo, unable to evolve when we clearly must. There is opportunity for enlightenment, but instead we look solely towards technology for our salvation. Things need to change.
I believe humanity is capable of amazing things. Considering how we treat our time on this planet, I have felt hope, depression, indifference and anger. Now I feel a mixture and a responsibility to express my thoughts. I want to provide some perspective. Let’s get to work.
